Natural bamboo side branches can be used for several purposes. The main use is for making a brushwood fence, a Japanese type constructed by gathering (bamboo) branches together vertically and clamping between horizontal support poles. The fresh branches, about 1–1.5 m long, were cut several days ago; ready to be picked up. The bamboo species is native Phai Liang (×Thyrsocalamus liang), having strong and durable stems and branches.
